Squirrels at the range

A friend posted this image on her website…it tickle my funny bone (Disclaimer: I don´t condone violence towards the squirrels, even if they pee on you when you are on the shooting line during a match…even if they do it a second time even after you move to another location on the line to avoid them, even if you hear them chuckling at you from the tree, even if you have an arrow strung on your bow…if only because you need that arrow to finish the match):


We have a really strict policy against shooting squirrels at the range. We don´t…they know this and mock us mercilessly. There have been cases of squirrels climbing the backstop using the arrows as stepladders. I asked the Ancient Ones the reason. They told me that it is for survival. We keep the squirrels fat by letting they dig into our bags for food, and they are not scared of people with bows. When the Big One hits and civilization goes the way of the dodo, we can come to the range and hunt big fat squirrels…
